Free from Cancer!

I don't know how to start this post except with a scream of joy. I can finally say I'm cancer-free!!

Even though it's only been about 10 months since I was diagnosed, I'm not going to lie, it's been a long road. There are people who have to fight for much longer, and many who never get the good news I received this week, but I'm happy to see that the progress is enormous, and every day, more and more of us can say we've survived cancer.

I want to thank you for all the support I've received during this time, and I'll make a thank you video on the channel as soon as I get a chance because the messages of support have been overwhelming, and I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart. I've been reading each one of them during my absence, and although I didn't feel up to responding (the radiation and chemo took a toll on me), I want you to know that I'm very grateful. I would have liked to post a video at the same time as I am writing this, but the truth is, I haven't found time to record it. I hope to be able to do so soon.

Now for the bad news... the reviews. Unfortunately, the treatment has damaged my hearing quite a bit. Although it hasn't diminished much (I haven't lost much) it has become very sensitive in the highs and the midrange frequencies, along with a constant ringing. It's like coming home from a concert where the volume was too loud, except it won't go away; it's here to stay.

The ringing is annoying, obviously, but the sensitivity to noise and high frequencies is quite painful. I'm forced to wear earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones when I'm in noisy places (children playing, bars, supermarkets, etc.).

Honestly, if these are the only side effects I have been left with, I feel very lucky and I'm not going to complain (except when I forget my earplugs/headphones, haha!). However, it does mean that my hearing isn't in a condition where I can judge the sound quality of headphones, much less give advice to people about them. I've always said that honesty is above all else, and to be honest, my hearing isn't at the level I believe is adequate for reviewing headphones and speakers.

It's a shame because, as you know, I'm passionate about sound and I really enjoy writing reviews. However, I feel fortunate to still be able to enjoy music, even if it's with a different tuning and relying more on ANC than high-end IEMs. As for reviews, I'd like to continue posting on the channel, so maybe I'll keep reviewing but I'll stray from headphones, at least in terms of sound because I can judge noise cancellation better than ever!

Well, all that remains to be seen. For now, I'm enjoying the news that has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders, and again, thank you all for the support!
